Faro airport has an efficient transport system that connects to several towns within the Algarve region. Being located close to the highway gives it an advantage of easily being accessed from various locations. Once you have landed at Faro Airport, you have several options of getting to your destination. There are public buses, taxis and rent-a-car companies that ferry people to and from the airport.

Buses

There is a bus service operating from Faro Airport to the center of Faro where one can connect to the other towns within the Algarve region. You can also get transportation to Spanish towns from here. From the bus station at Faro, a fast bus service, Servico Transrapido, transports tourists to various towns along the coast. The bus leaves on average every half hour from 07.00 to 20.30 in the high season and from 08.00 to 19.30 on weekends and holidays. Some hotels around the airport ferry their clients to and from the airport using their own shuttles.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available from the airport. Once out of arrivals, turn right and you will be heading for the Faro airport taxi ranks. Taxis charge different charges depending on the destination. Some of the common destinations include Quinta do Logo (€20.00), Albufeira (€35.00), Olhao (€18.00), and Praia de Rocha (€70.00). Between 22.00 in the night and 06.00 in the morning, the prices tend to go higher.

Car Hire

Renting a vehicle is relatively cheap at Faro Airport. The stiff competition among rental companies helps keep the rates low although in the summer the influx of tourists raises the rates considerably. The rates depend on several factors and these costs can be obtained online.

Train

There is no train service operating from the airport. In order to access train services one has to travel to the town center either by bus or taxi. From the town center there is a train that transports tourists along the coast. Unfortunately the train is not so reliable with regards to timing. It is also a slow mode of transportation.
